When Aggrator organizes Agrifoodtech Demo Day<\/a> On November 20, the participants will get a European perspective on agriculture and the food industry \u2013 directly from ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade), which is the sponsor of the event, and as a partner in collaboration with AgriFoodTech Norway<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the day, ICEX will hold presentations on opportunities in the Spanish agricultural market, which is the fourth largest in Europe and the tenth largest in the world (Innovation Norway<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strong agricultural market with a need for new technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a turnover of over 168 billion euros and nearly 560,000 employees, the Spanish agricultural and food industry accounts for nearly one-quarter of the country's total industrial production. Nearly 20 percent of Spain's total exports come from the agri-food sector, which is thus a key engine of national value creation (ICEX<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain is renowned for quality, innovation and a wide range of products; from olive oil and citrus fruits to fresh vegetables and organic raw materials. The country is also among the world leaders in organic agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The food and agriculture industry in Spain has strong roots in the country's culture, food culture, and tourism, but at the same time it is undergoing a technological and sustainable transformation. The need for agricultural technology that increases productivity and sustainability is immense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The industry is heavily investing in digitalization, precision agriculture, and the development of new protein sources and ingredients; supported by an ecosystem of world-leading Spanish technology centers and research environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Port to EU, EMEA and Latin America<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through its membership in the EU, Spain is part of the internal market and the EEA, which guarantees the free movement of goods and services within the EU, and thus is an attractive starting point for companies with European and global ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Companies that establish operations in Spain receive, in addition to access to the national market, a springboard into the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and North Africa) and Latin America.
